A Tax So Simple Even A Politician Could Understand It

February 4, 2009

Charlie Rangel, Timothy Geithner, Tom Daschle and so many other politicians have gotten in trouble over the years because of taxes. Now of course none of these people deliberately evaded taxes they just made mistakes. Whether or not you believe them is up to you. But let us for the moment say that yes, they were just human errors that anyone could make. Now if the people who help draft the tax laws are incapable of understanding it, how is the average American supposed to get it right? The tax code has 933 sections and it continues to grow each year. Check it out.

What can we do about this monstrosity? I believe the answer is in the Fair Tax Act. “The FairTax Act (HR 25, S 1025) is nonpartisan legislation. It abolishes all federal personal and corporate income taxes, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, and self-employment taxes and replaces them with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax  administered primarily by existing state sales tax authorities.” ( There are several books out written by Congressman John Linder and Neal Boortz explaining in detail how this tax would work and how it would benefit  our country. I would invite everyone to visit the FairTax web site and also to read the books, then call your Congressman and Senator and ask them to support the bills.
